June Dairy Month plans announced in Green County
Green County prepares for June Dairy Month with a kickoff Dairy Breakfast on Tuesday June 1 at St. John's United Church of Christ Monroe and a June 26 Dairy Day parade in New Glarus. Activities include Dairy Queen contests 11 community queens and a dairy dessert bar contest led by county coordinator Mrs Nelson McCammon.

Members of the Drama at the spring social of the club gathered for a program in Fellowship Hall St. John's United Church of Christ with about 160 attending. New officers for 1971 72 were installed after a dessert. Mrs. Murray became president and listed committee members. The four scene play The Women portrayed marital foibles with the cast led by Mrs. McElhaney, assisted by several club members. a humorous pantomime between scenes entertained as did a pantomime cook. Officers installed included president Mrs. Murray and vice presidents, secretaries, treasurer and program chairmen, each presented a red rose. The event also noted future programs, fundraisers and memorials, with a bake sale proceeds toward dental work for local children. Cadette Girl Scout Troop 211 served dessert. table decor reflected a women’s liberation theme alongside the play’s motifs.

Grace Lutheran Church offers rent free space in the former parsonage for the Clothes Closet. The project will occupy three upstairs rooms just east of the square, while the Con'Nard Manor will be vacated by June 1 for demolition. Co chairmen Mrs Roger Voelkli and Mrs Edward Einbeck will move the operation Monday night with help from committee members.

Mrs. Edwin Heinz 97, longtime Brodhead resident dies
Mary Woodruff Heinz born July 27 1874 in Beaver Dam. She taught school in South Dakota before moving to Brodhead in 1930. Survived by two daughters Genevieve Samdahl and Dalza Riese two sons Emerson and Newton eight grandchildren 26 great grandchildren five great great grandchildren and three half sisters.
