An 11 year old Rockford girl Joan K Abels was injured in a Monroe accident yesterday. City officers logged an incident at 4 34 pm at 11th Street and 22nd Avenue where cars driven by Dorothy I Gregory of Platteville and Doris M Leckenby of Rockford collided causing front end and fender damage. Later at 7 27 pm Merlyn L Phillips Route 1 struck a Wisconsin Power and Light pole on 17th Street.

Monroe Firms To Be Expanded In South Monroe
Phillips and Smith Furniture and Appliance Co and Oaktron Industries announce a joint expansion. A new 20 000 square foot building will be built north of the Farm and Fleet store to house the Phillips and Smith business, while Oaktron will gain 10 000 extra square feet from leased space. The current store will close for a liquidation sale May 9 11 with the sale starting May 12. Construction begins immediately and should be ready by late summer.
