The FBI expanded its 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list to 11 to include H. Rap Brown, the 26 year old black militant charged with riot and arson, who failed to appear for trial. He is deemed armed and dangerous, and a federal warrant for interstate flight to avoid prosecution was issued by Maryland authorities.
A federal grand jury indicted Chevron Oil Co. on 900 counts of willfully violating pollution prevention regulations for an offshore spill. Conviction on all counts could bring up to 1.8 million dollars in fines.
A South Side Milwaukee Cinco de Mayo celebration drew several thousand attendees. The street party featured tacos street dancing and Latin American flags with participation from Mexican Americans along with Cuban and Puerto Rican communities.
