Cheese and Butter Show Price Decline In State Marketing
Madison reports a weekly decline in butter and cheese prices with other dairy products unsettled. Butter prices fell from one quarter to one and a quarter cents per pound while production dropped 31 percent from the prior year. American cheese markets were barely steady to weak with lower prices as trading remained dull and receipts light. Swiss markets were weak with light demand and current stocks high. Non-fat dry milk solids stayed firm at higher prices, while evaporated milk remained steady to firm with fair demand. Fluid milk supplies exceeded requirements and demand was about normal in most outlets.

Estice Smith Dies in Indiana After Cerebral Hemorrhages
Estice Smith, 60, a former Albany resident, died Thursday in Lebanon, Indiana where the funeral was held. He suffered a cerebral hemorrhage on March 17 and a second a week later. A World War I veteran, he worked for the Indiana Condensed Milk Co. as a foreman for years and was married to Nell Webb of Albany. Surviving are the widow, one son Donald, a grandson, a brother Ernest, and two sisters, all in Indiana.
