The Supreme Court may devote a full week starting April 11 to hearing proposals on when and how to end racial segregation in public schools. Clerk Harold B. Milley said a full bench would hear arguments after Justice Jackson's death and Judge John Marshall Harlan's return. The 1954 ruling that segregation is unconstitutional set the stage for new proceedings on implementation.
In Madison the Senate voted 21 to 8 to kill a Kendzior ski and Schmidt bill expanding the Public Service Commission from three to five members. The measure would have added seats representing the public, agriculture, small business, industry and labor. Other bills passed include stricter regulation of optometry, creation of a county municipal court in Sheboygan, highway maintenance for county parks, county financing of vocational school tuition, county civil service commissions, licensing for refrigerated food lockers, and joint county home and tuberculosis sanatorium operations if regulations are met.

George W. Gibbons 67 of 914 15th avenue died at 9 10 p m last night in St Clare hospital after a heart condition. Born November 17 1887 in Jordan Township he farmed in Sylvester Township before moving to New Glarus and later Monroe. Survived by wife Ellen three daughters and five grandchildren. preceded in infancy by a son and siblings. He was a Catholic and former American Legion commander with services by Rev E C McCollow at Stuessy funeral home, burial in Calvary cemetery.

Washington House-Senate conference failed to agree on a personal income tax cut defeated by the Senate. Rep Cooper said the session ended with no agreement and a Friday meeting is planned. House Democrats pushed a $20 per person tax cut tied to extending corporate and excise tax rates, while the Senate backed continuation of the rates. The House may eventually accept the Senate bill to avoid revenue loss. The House also prepared to consider repealing two provisions of the 1954 tax act attacked as a windfall by Democrats. Humprey urged repeal noting the revenue impact would be millions, not billions. A section allows future expense deduction, another defers taxes on income earned now for future services.

Marion J. Sheen, 52, Associated Press executive, died in Charlotte North Carolina. A veteran newsman and leader for over 25 years, he served as chief of bureau in Des Moines Denver and Chicago before becoming general executive for the Midwest in 1949 and later Southeast. Services will be held Thursday in Savannah Georgia.
Construction of the new 145000 Juda Zion Evangelical United Brethren church neared completion with a planned dedication in late June. Rev. W. L. King said the heating unit has operated for over two months and interiors progress includes plastering, decorative walls, and near-finished acoustical ceilings. The church seats 300 in the auditorium, 27 in the choir loft, and 250 in the lounge area with a large dining room, kitchen, and dressing rooms. Anticipated dedication by summer 1955 aims to keep indebtedness low.
President Eisenhower at a news conference said he personally never questions any man's motives and resisted claims about the Yalta conference participants' sincerity.
