Badger Council Girl Scouts Monroe district launches cookie sale from March 18 to 27 to fund six day camps and Camp Birchwood. Each Junior Cadette and Senior must sell 42 boxes, five varieties at 45 cents. If 100000 boxes sold, troops gain 2000 and camp fund 20750. Brownies not selling. Delivery April 28 to May 5.
In Nashville Tennessee a group of 14 youths aged 9 to 15 admitted stealing 275 gallons of ice cream from an ice cream factory area since January. Judge Sam Davis Tatum fined each 25 cents to 5 dollars and placed them on probation.
The Green County Historical Society in Monroe elected Orville R. Evans as director and approved two bylaw changes expanding the board from five to seven and adding two new membership classes bringing total members to 270, the highest in its history. The group plans to move artifacts from rural schools to the former Universalist Church museum this year.

Christian Zuercher 98, a Swiss-born farmer who settled in Russell, North Dakota, died shortly before noon yesterday at Monroe Manor Nursing Home. He came to America in 1912 with his wife Anna Siegenthaler and built a large wheat farm. he leaves a son, two daughters, a brother, a sister, 29 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. A prayer service is held tonight at Newcomer Funeral Home with burial planned in Rose Hill Cemetery, Minot.
Albany fire department rushed to the DeLos Jacobs mobile home at the Dale Atkinson farm southwest of Albany at 11 10 a m. A stove explosion started the blaze igniting hay bales around the trailer causing minor damage.
