Bids for a wading pool 20 by 40 feet and a diam tonaceous earth filter housed in a 20 by 30 foot building at Recreation Park will be opened April 4 at 8 30 a m by the Board of Public Works. Plans are on file with the city clerk. The project aims to purify 400 000 gallons every eight hours, with a budgeted cost of 20 000. Fuel Tax Hike Sent to Senate and Constitutional Plan

Colorful Tom Brown Killed in Milwaukee Car Collision
Tom Brown 85, a famed Milwaukee hike and marathon figure, died after a car struck his bicycle on Wisconsin Avenue. Driver George R. Carroll 28 pulled out to pass another vehicle and collided with Brown as he rode toward him. Carroll was questioned by police. Brown died minutes after admission to County Emergency hospital. Brown’s life centered on fitness. he biked to move quickly but preferred walking, and his long career included a notable stay at Standard Oil Company before retirement.

Services for Walter Sutter, 35, Rock City, were held at 1:30 p m today at St Pauls Evangelical and Reform church in Epplyanna with Rev R E Schwarze officiating and burial in Epplyanna cemetery. He died Tuesday at a Freeport hospital after a brief illness. Born in Davis Illinois October 30 1919 he was a son of Oscar and Marie Sutter. He married Esther Mobley on January 9 1949 and operated a tavern in Rock City. Survivors include his wife.
