Infant saves by delicate surgery in Monroe hospital
An infant under 24 hours old at St. Clare Hospital in Monroe underwent a rare two hour emergency operation to repair a congenital diaphragmatic hernia. Doctors said the baby, David William Moon, grew out of the critical stage and is now past danger. The procedure, first of its kind at the local hospital, was performed 23 hours after birth on Tuesday, and parents are William S. Moon and spouse at 2400 14th Avenue.

Wisconsin Governor urges fuel tax hike for roads
Governor Kohler urged a two cent per gallon increase in the state motor fuel tax to raise about 20 million dollars annually for highways and safety.
