The surgeon who performed the operation noted no anticipated difficulties and cited a second procedure to correct a complication from the earlier perforating ulcer operation.

Night fire calls in Monroe stem from faulty ignition

Volunteer Firemen were summoned twice within ten hours for oil burner ignition faults. First, 4:09 p.m. at the Daniel Eley home 2359 27th Ave with no fire or smoke. Second, 2:00 a.m. at 1806 10th St owned by Harrison Grenzow Judo when an oil burner exploded but caused no fire damage. soot confined to the basement. Firemen repaired the burner and restored heat to five apartments.

Tavernmen Fined In Lancaster Case

In Grant County Court two tavern workers were fined for beer and liquor sale violations linked to an Aug. 14 crash that killed seven. Paul Wolfe, 41, owner, paid 700 dollars for two counts furnishing beer to a minor and one selling liquor to a minor. James Richardson, 24, bartender, paid 200 dollars for selling beer to a minor and received two years probation on false swearing counts. The crash near Lancaster killed Vincent Pennekamp, 16, and six members of the Fendell family of Dubuque.
