Albany Target For High Winds Brings Near Miss
A tornado like windstorm passed over Albany Sunday evening striking Hillcrest Cemetery and nearby areas. Police Chief Norman Glaser said the 300 foot high tunnel passage would have wiped out the village if it touched down. Trees were uprooted across Main Street, near the high school and several residences. The village siren sounded at 7 15 p.m. as downpours and hail followed with 11.55 inches of rain since June 1 in parts. A fire truck was stationed for direct radio contact with the cemetery unit.
