The redevelopment authority approved the plan for submission to federal officials for approval with about 800000 dollars in federal funds. U S Air Force Captain Robert C. Amos, son of Mr and Mrs J B F Amos of Monroe, earns two Distinguished Flying Crosses and 13 Air Medals for Southeast Asia actions. Flying F-105 Thunderchiefs from Takhli Thailand, he fought through heavy fire in July 1968 missions and aided in the rescue of a downed pilot. He is a systems project officer at Los Angeles Space and Missile Systems Organization, with a wife Mary, daughter of Mrs Arnold Stalder.

Area Man Killed In Traffic Mishap
Gene R. Williams 22 of Blanchardville died in a one vehicle crash eight miles northwest of Monroe on Highway 81. Joan Kolden 18 of Monroe survived with scratches after the car left the road, rolled, hit a pole, and ditched in a roadside area. Williams, a Vietnam veteran and Moore Business Farms worker, is survived by parents and siblings. funeral set for June 29 at Postville Bible Church.

Severe thunderstorms struck Wisconsin with strong winds and lightning. Four off duty Green Bay police officers and an 18 foot sailboat vanished after a Wednesday squall. two were rescued. Tornado Watch Issued for Wisconsin and Upper Michigan
The Weather Bureau announced a tornado watch for parts of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. The watch area covers regions southeast of Alma Rhinelander to the Wisconsin Michigan line near Iron River and northwest of Two Rivers Madison to Shullsburg. Isolated severe thunderstorms with large hail and damaging winds were also forecast.
