Three Die As Semi Strikes Homes In Duluth
A speeding semitrailer with a grain load lost brakes on a hill and plowed into a car and two houses in Duluth Minnesota. The driver Ralph Redlin his wife Ruby and Martin Dich of Superior died. Four others were injured including residents of the second home and nearby neighbors.

Starkweather Dies In Electric Chair
Arland Isely, eight, died from crushing chest injuries after being pinned beneath an overturned tractor-baler near Spring Grove Township. The accident occurred on County Trunk 6 as Gene Schuetze, 15, lost control on a hill. Arland died en route to St. Clare hospital. he would have been a fourth grader at Purcell school. Blaha Honored At Banquet Here
Roland W. Blaha executive resident of the Commercial and Savings Bank was honored at a farewell banquet by the Green County Bankers Association at Idle Hour Mansion. The event drew over 35 bank officials and their wives with all county banks represented. Blaha will begin duties as supervisor of state banks for Illinois on August 1 and will finish local duties next Tuesday. He will reside in Monroe through July and move to Springfield before starting his new post. He was appointed by Governor William Stratton. the new role is a key post in Illinois financial reform. Blaha, former president of the Wisconsin State Bankers Association, has lived here since 1947 and received a desk set at the banquet.

Area Crash Fatal For George Proud
George W. Proud, 52, of West Kirkland Washington, was killed in a one car crash on Highway 11 four miles east of Shullsburg Lafayette County. Adrian Mouch and his daughter Ruth were injured and hospitalised. Mouch, from Phoenix, and Ruth Mouch suffered serious cuts and minor injuries respectively. Harold Mullen the Lafayette County traffic patrolman said the car overturned after Mouch appeared to lose control while returning from Elgin Illinois to Washington. Proud and Mouch were thrown from the vehicle. Proud’s body was taken to Sharer Funeral Home Darling ton.
