Donald Willard, assistant county agent, warns Green county farmers that DDT status when used as an insecticide remains undetermined. He cites dangers including residue limits, soil persistence, impact on beneficial insects, and unknown soil buildup. He advises a 1 percent spray or half a pound of DDT dust per 12 gallons of water and limited seasonal use due to residual effects.
