Folk Festival Planned July 8 By GOP Youths

The Green County Young Republicans announce a July 8 folk festival at 8 p.m. to raise funds for a new pool at High S. The program features The Sojourners Glenn Korgren Jerry Kubly and The Idlemen with Corky and a senior bass baritone from Whitewater University. Tickets are sold by club members and local businesses.

Cheese Samples Night Promotes Dairy Month

Members of the Argus 4-H Club will hand out cheese samples and dairy recipes at Monroe banks and local supermarkets tonight as part of June Dairy Month. They prepared ballot boxes for a dairy queen, posted dairy ads, and distributed place mats to area restaurants.

Ten Die in Southern Highway Crash Near Hardeeville

Ten persons all from Savannah, Georgia, died when a station wagon collided with an asphalt truck south of Hardeeville at the U.S. 17 and S.C. 170 intersection. The wagon carried five members of a single family and no one survived. Victims included three young children, several teenagers, and several adults.

Four Women Vying for Southwestern Wisconsin Field Archery Queen

Four candidates Rachel Vick Barbara Anderson Marcia Riley and Shirley Henderson compete for the archery queen title at the Marshall Bluff Bowhunters event with the current queen Bonnie Bowman on hand to transfer the crown.
