14 Class Holds Golden Reunion at Monroe High School
Monroe High School Class of 1914 held a 50 year reunion Saturday night at Monroe Country Club with a social hour and dinner master of ceremonies Peter S Solomon presided. Attendees included class president Francis Wagner and salutatorian Flora Keller Brown with reports of life since graduation. A memorial for deceased members was observed and letters from former faculty were read.

A large group of youths gathered for the June Sprints at Road America in Elkhart Lake caused city disturbances Saturday night. Hail and rain devastate Jackson County strawberry crop center
A severe wind hail and rain storm struck Alma Center and surrounding Jackson County late Saturday causing widespread damage. Strawberries and vines were wiped out on 1500 to 1600 acres with 20 to 50 percent losses in corn peas and tomatoes. Livestock died and barns toppled while streets flooded and cars slipped into ditches. The ABC sheriff noted the area as Wisconsin strawberries capital, with emergency telephone service and a parade that continued. Other towns reported rain totals up to 2.15 inches in Beloit Rockford, Lone Rock and Madison.

Mrs. Fred Roth Sr. 80 was found dead early this afternoon in the kitchen of her home at 1508 9th Street. Neighbors reported her son Fred contacted Paul L. Frenzel to investigate after unable to reach her by long distance call. Born June 11 1884 in Chicago she was widow of a Monroe House owner operator who died December 11 195% and was previously Henise Goldner of Chicago. She married Fred Roth Jan 4 1901 in Chicago. Surviving are two sons Fred and Edward Roth of Horeb five grandchildren one great grandchild and a sister in Chicago.
