The golfer Ike Eisenhower gave him five dollars saying it was for going to church that morning. The incident occurred as Roy missed the regular job and was teased by other caddies.

August Gempler, 43, of 2003 15th avenue, fell from a scaffold while working on a barn roof under construction on a Twin Grove area farm. He suffered a fractured right hip and internal injuries, was taken to St. Clare hospital, and underwent surgery. The Schultz Construction Co. employee fell on a farm owned by John Ruff and tenanted by Richard Theiler.

Mrs. Donald L. Collins Sr., 79, a retired voice teacher, died early today at Coplien nursing home after a long illness. She was born November 5, 1879 in Spring Valley Township, Rock County and married June 6, 1900 in Freeport. Surviving are two sons, Donald L. of Brodhead and Rockwell of Ormond Beach, Florida, four grandchildren, and two granddaughters.
