Slain Infant's Mother Faces Murder Hearing
Joyce Mary Day 22 of Orfordville will face a first degree murder charge at a preliminary hearing next Thursday June 28 at 2 pm in Rock County Court. She is held without bond in Janesville jail and requested attorney William Robson Beloit. A signed confession says she gave birth at the family farm last Friday and struck the infant head with a thick branch. The body was found in a shallow grave three miles northwest of Monroe on the Lowrance Pest farm owned by Henry Marty of Monroe. A pathologist ruled skull fracture caused the death.
