Pole Ex Premier Clear of Charge in Moscow Trial

In Moscow the Soviet supreme court heard evidence清 that Stanislaw Mikolajczyk, former Polish government in exile premier, was kept in the dark about alleged anti Russian actions by the Polish underground army. Yevgeny Charnowski testified he learned Mikolajczyk was not informed of underground plans during last year’s talks on a provisional government. The testimony implies Mikolajczyk bears no connection to subversive actions and could join a new provisional Polish government. The Soviet prosecutor said death penalty would not be sought, calling the defendants non threatening to the USSR. Charnowski contradicted Okulicki on his knowledge of subversive activity.
