Milk House Order Altered in Wisconsin Dairy Rules
Wisconsin Department of Agriculture announced changes to the milk house order after an attorney general opinion upheld its validity. Following public hearings prompted by the Wisconsin Dairy Federation, sections on milk houses and handling of milk cream and dairy equipment were amended and take effect September 15, 1953. Producers must have a dedicated milk house or room with cooling equipment, proper construction for cleanliness, and separate from barn areas to prevent contamination. Most dairymen meet the order, but noncompliers must comply by the effective date.
