Lela Foley of a 192 acre farm near Zanders Lake and her sister Dorothy Long care for cows praised as the “most spoiled in Wisconsin.” The Foley family milks 12 to 13 cans daily from 23 cows with butterfat around 4.2. Mrs. Foley says the secret is milking and feeding on time and gentleness. Now slowed by a stroke she still milks and jokes with workers, recalling a life of teaching, service station work, and a dance band, planning to keep at least two cows for life.

Ricky Cochrane a 13 year old boy is missing and believed drowned after slipping from a log into the Rock River Tuesday near Janesville. Deputies and volunteers conducted dragging operations starting 7 a.m. after a 4 p.m. search ended at dusk. His father David Cochrane reported the last sighting at about 2 30 p m.
