Detroit police charged four youths ages 16, 16, 16, and 15 in the assault of Virginia Nixon a 34 year old who collapsed beside an outdoor telephone booth after suffering a stroke. They dragged her to a porch then an alley and attacked her while she was unconscious. she died the next morning at a hospital.

Three persons drowned Wednesday in separate Wisconsin waters. Charles Dickson, 27, of Capron, Illinois, drowned when his boat overturned in Delavan Lake near Delavan. Gregory Faas, 18, of rural Onalaska, drowned in the Mississippi River off La Crosse while being taught to swim by a 11 year old girl.
