Senate advances tax relief for state insurers and tax proposals
Wisconsin Senate moved a bill exempting state insurance companies from the premium tax on disability coverage. The measure, already passed by the Assembly, contrasts Wisconsin with Illinois which has no tax. The session also tackled sewerage commissions powers and rejected a repeal of the Oak Creek law. A municipal vehicle tax plan, backed by Gov. Thomson, was approved on a revised mandatory basis. The chamber declined to open tax returns to inspection and discussed a 5 percent tax on professional wrestling.
