Final Plans for Dairy Day June Activities in New Glarus

Paratrooper 23 Dies in Mishap at Fort Bragg
Pfc. Wayne H Flugum of Leland Iowa, 23, died after his parachute tangled in a static line during a routine airborne exercise at Fort Bragg North Carolina. He suffocated during a three plus hour rescue effort after being cut loose from a C 123 transport. Medical authorities say death occurred 30 minutes to two hours before landing. He was among about 18 of 36 paratroopers to jump from the plane.

Jimmy Dorsey Dies of Cancer at 53
New York bandleader Jimmy Dorsey, 53, died of cancer at Doctors Hospital after January surgery for a lung growth. He left his band to enter the hospital two months after the operation. Survived by his mother, a daughter Julie Hilton, and sister Mrs. Anthony Visella. He and brother Tommy rose from Pennsylvania coal regions to fame and once reconciled after feuds.
