Two area fire departments responded to rural blazes Wednesday afternoon. Juda firemen were called to Floyd Anderson farm Rt. 1 Juda at 3 23 to extinguish haying equipment in use in the field. Woodford firemen quickly put out a grass fire near the DeNure Brothers farm on the county line between Green and Lafayette Counties.
The Monroe FFA won gold ratings in Safety, BOAC and national chapter programs at the Wisconsin FFA convention at Green Lake. Evansville FFA won BOAC, while Monroe placed in the top five nationally in BOAC and second in state safety. Ten members earned Wisconsin FFA Degrees, totaling 112 for the chapter. Steve Gobeli was named Star Agri businessman. seven members earned proficiency awards. Terry Pickett from Blackhawk FFA was elected State officer.
