Green County Board approves Muralt Prairie purchase and renews boards

The Green County Board approved transferring funds to buy 62.4 acres of Muralt Prairie west of Albany for 17000 with the state paying 10740. The land, formerly owned by the late Joe Blumer, may be renamed to reflect county ownership. The Pleasant View Nursing Home Committee will gain two county supervisors as members. Green County also approved a state reimbursed 8300 to establish a computerized immunization fund as part of a state experimental health project.

Immunization drive eyed for Green County

Green County may adopt a computerized immunization program after a unanimous board resolution. The plan aims to raise measles rubella DTP and polio coverage above 9 percent and improve record accuracy with future and past shots included. Fine pleads guilty to bombing charges six years after UW blast

David S. Fine 24 of Wilmington Delaware pleaded guilty to federal unlawful flight to avoid prosecution and conspiracy to destroy government property tied to the 1970 University of Wisconsin bombing that killed a student. He also pleaded guilty to state third degree murder in circuit court.

Green County Board approves EMS equipment fund transfer

The Green County Board of Supervisors voted 26 to 2 to move 12 000 from the general fund to the EMS Commission for equipment purchases. The plan, tied to federal matching funds, includes suction units traction splints crash kits radios and walkie talkies for ambulances with no coordinator funded. Dissenters were Ed Kaderly and Ernst Zentner.

Marlene Cordes wins state FFA speaking title

Monroe FFA member Marlene Cordes won the state speaking contest at the Wisconsin FFA Convention in Green Lake. She will represent Wisconsin in the national contest in Kansas City in November. Her speech was titled FFA in 3-D and several Monroe mentors aided her success. Monroe placed second in the state safety program and was runner up in parliamentary procedure semifinals.
