FBI Agents Join Auto Theft Probe
FBI agents joined an auto theft investigation after a 1954 two door Chevrolet stolen from Sanford R Wahl 817 22nd Ave was found abandoned on a highway near East Dubuque. A Gateway truck driver alerted police and Monroe and Jo Daviess County authorities then involved the FBI.

Curtis Wagner, son of Mr and Mrs Arthur F Wagner, left for Albuquerque to work this summer at Los Alamos laboratory for the Atomic Energy Commission. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin and won a National Science Foundation scholarship for graduate work at the University of Illinois. He will study theoretical or solid physics and high temperature chemistry. His mother accompanied him to Madison airport. His sister Karen will work this summer at Deer Trail Lodge near Tomahawk and will be a UW sophomore in the fall.

Bomarc missile fire at McGuire triggers radiation scare
A Bomarc missile with an atomic warhead caught fire in its launching pen at McGuire Air Force Base New Jersey causing a radiation scare. Fire damaged the weapon and a small amount of radioactivity was detected confined to the launch shelter before an all clear was given.
