Death of Fred Benkert 89 Monroe

Fred Benkert aged 89 of 1711 17th street Monroe died in St. Clare hospital at 9 50 p m yesterday after three year illness. He was born July 31 1865 in Lewis County New York and married Fannie Kubly March 8 1899. He farmed in Jefferson and Clarno Township before moving to Monroe in 1919. He was a St Johns church member and is survived by his wife a daughter Grace Bartell three grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Funeral services Monday at 2 p m at Stuessy funeral home with Rev Paul C Kehle officiating burial in Greenwood cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p m tomorrow.

Fred H. Mineral Point Man Fatally Run Over by Wife’s Auto

Floyd Ferrell, 48, was fatally injured Friday night when he was run over by an automobile driven by his wife in the family farmyard six miles southeast of Mineral Point. Mrs Ferrell, with two grandchildren in the car, did not see him as he herded cows and the vehicle passed over his body. He died on arrival at St Joseph’s hospital in Dodgeville.

Wreck event planned for the 40 and 8 districts

The annual spring joint wreck of Wisconsin third district and Illinois first district will be held tomorrow in Monroe. More than 300 40 and 8 members are expected with a parade at 1 p.m. and degree work by national and state officials starting at 2 p.m. The day includes a jail release, meals, and ceremonies led by Rodger Bernstein and Max Klapp with local committees organizing reservations, publicity, and welcoming duties.
