UW Madison Graduates Include New Glarus Students
Three graduates from New Glarus accompany several local families as they earn degrees at the University of Wisconsin Madison. Shelter house base laid at Zand ers Lake Browntown
The concrete base for a 20 by 50 shelter house at Zand ers Lake near Browntown was set today and construction will start soon. Green County Conservation League president Ray L Beckman said the project is funded by county state and private donations. A rope separating a swimming area for young children will be installed along the beach and parents were urged to supervise as no lifeguard is on duty.

Monroe PTA Workshop Set for June Fifth at Monroe Junior High
A PTA workshop for officer instruction and leadership training will be held in Monroe on Monday June 5 from 9 to 3 p.m. at Monroe Junior High School Cafeteria. Four PTA leaders will conduct sessions on program demonstrations and governance for new officers and units across Districts V and II in south central and southwestern Wisconsin. Participants may bring a sack lunch. coffee and Monroe cheese will be provided. Afternoon topics cover problem solving and officer recruitment with Q and A on spending, participation, parliamentary procedure and PTA policies. Jeffrey Allen Lueck of Monroe High School received a $350 B. C. Gamble Scholarship in Salesmanship during commencement. Bill Marsh presented the certificate on behalf of Gamble-Skogmo, Inc. selection came from a field of 500 store managers. 28 seniors across Gamble stores receive certificates this month. Lueck, son of Awalt Lueck of Brownstown, plans to study business administration at Whitewater State University. He has been an honor student and lettered in basketball and football.

Dairy Queen Finalists To Be Concert Feature
The ten finalists in the Monroe Dairy Queen contest will be introduced at the first summer concert by the Monroe City Band at Twining Park Band Shell on June 12. A formal dedication of the Band Shell is set for June 26 during the second concert, with plans to present the finalists and possibly crown the Monroe Dairy Queen.

Three Injured In Area Mishap Near Monroe
Three persons suffered minor injuries in a two vehicle crash shortly afternoon yesterday one and a half miles west of Monroe on a town road. William J Babler Sharon Weiss and Kathy Welss, all Browntown residents aged 18 17 and 18 respectively, sustained bumps cuts and bruises.
