Illiff Electors Vote To Attach To Monroe System
Illiff district in Monroe Township voted 22 to 4 to attach to the Monroe school system effective July 1 at a special meeting. Illiff has 34 pupils in eight grades with teacher Leila Meyer last year. four pupils would be transported to Monroe junior high next fall if approved. County School Committee will hold a formal hearing before final approval. Richland and Brownstown State Graded have also voted to attach.

The Monroe City Band awarded Karen Buholzer the first John Philip Sousa award for outstanding instrumental performance at a high school ceremony in the gym. Memorial Funds To Buy Directory For Monroe High
A memorial fund for Monroe high school will finance a 25 by 50 inch directory listing rooms and teachers in the lobby honoring three deceased Class of 1961 members. Funds come from seniors and parents of the deceased. the directory names William A. Burkhard Jr. Robert Zumkehr and Thomas C. Moe. Kirby Weeden gave $250 in books as the senior class gift.

Hospital Evacuation Drill Set by Wisconsin Firefighters Association
St. Clare hospital will host an evacuation exercise conducted by the Wisconsin Firefighters Association on Monday and Tuesday with lectures and evacuation practice. Five Students Die in Michigan Car Crash Near Port Huron
Five students returning from a pre graduation party were killed when their car left an "'S"' curve 12 miles northwest of Port Huron.
