4 H Members Display Ponies At Horse Show

4H members from many clubs showcased horses and riding skills at the fairgrounds. Vicki Baumgartner’s colt Danny’s Pet Shiek won no prize as the top entry, with runner up Mary Louis Ziltner earning the prize for Dur Khiata Pet. A crowd watched a parade of 19 clubs, sidelight contests, and a polo game using broom sticks and a basketball.

At the 112th Green County Fair the weekend forecast drew large crowds as final judging wrapped up. New comic The Willets debuts in Monroe Evening Times

Starting Monday in The Monroe Evening Times the new comic strip The Willets will replace Ben Casey after its removal from television popularity. Cartoonist Walt Wetterberg, Rochester Minnesota resident and former World War II veteran, brings a homey humor and family themes to the strip, a spin off of Out Our Way by J. R. Williams, featuring the Willets family led by Samuel and Mum with Loomis as the older son.
