Green County Fair Sidelights Draws Crowd and Activity
At the Green County Fair an Hereford-Angus cross steer escaped its owner Gregory G. Mary from Mineral Point and was cornered outside the 11th Street entrance. Monroe Police and fair officials formed a cordon as the animal stood near a rose garden until a tame steer was brought in to help. A tranquilizer failed, but the maverick was lassoed and tied to the tame animal. The fair featured exhibitors from Baraboo Janesville Brodhead Monroe and New Glarus with World Book sales and craft displays. The ferris wheel was late due to a truck accident and a replacement from a ferris wheel company cost 152000 dollars.

Children day opens at fair in Green County
The 119th Green County Fair enters its third day under clear skies with heat and numerous events. Children’s Day features junior exhibitors, a sporadic hail shower, and a busy schedule including Lipko Comedy Chimps at 2 and 4 pm, Trans World Hell Drivers at 8 pm, a 6:30 pm livestock auction, harness races at 1:30 pm Saturday and 1 pm Sunday, two country acts on Saturday, a demolition derby at 4 and 8 pm, plus 4-H programs and style shows in Youth in Action.
