The Loveland residence followed a frame version built years earlier just south of the Octagon House site on the West tract. Civil War service notes Gen West moved to Milwaukee and the house changed owners over the years. Extensive rehabilitation has been carried out by Mrs. Loveland in recent years.
Badger briefs tally three drownings on Sunday in Wisconsin and one early today. Antonio Ortiz, 18, of Milwaukee, drowned at Gordon Park pool after climbing the fence with friends. Wayne Bennett, 19, of Unity, drowned in Adams County while crossing the inlet at Lake Camelot. Terrance Polcyn, 27, of Westmont, Ill., presumed missing from Big Green Lake. Carl Heidermann, 62, of Kenosha, recovered from Lake Michigan after a fall. Idaho Mae Fisher, 44, Milwaukee, found in Milwaukee River likely from a days-old drowning.
The Associated Press reports a cold front spreading across Wisconsin with Sunday showers. Temperatures fall from the mid to upper 80s to the mid to low 50s overnight while Eagle River records 50 degrees and Beloit 0.72 inches of rain. Small craft advisories stretch along Lake Michigan from Kenosha to Michigan.
Dr. Donald Johnson, director of Stevens Point State University student health center, withdraws from the AMA. He accuses the association of misplaced priorities and high costs alleging it neglects civil rights. He cites a $70,000 annual AMA vice president salary as immoral.

Union Local 232 representing about 6,000 Briggs and Stratton workers voted to reject the firm’s latest contract offer. With the current contract set to expire August 1, workers authorized a strike if necessary.
Apollo 15 astronauts Scott Irwin and Worden launched from Cape Kennedy aboard Endeavour to a three day flight to lunar orbit. They plan to land Falcon in Hadley Apennine with Rover 1 for a four wheel Jeep like exploration and to study lunar crust and Hadley Rille.
Optimism faded after a 12 hour negotiating session at the Labor Department with United Transportation Union President Charles Luna and railroad representatives led by J. P. Hiltz Jr. Talks resume at 3 p.m. EDT to avert walkouts and possible strikes affecting four railroads and up to eleven more in the coming two weeks.
School meetings are held tonight across Green County and Wisconsin districts. Voters aged 18 to 20 may vote for the first time in district history. Residents must have 30 days district residency to vote. Budgets will be adopted and some board members elected. Some areas consider referendums to move elections to Spring.
Green County Fair Week opens at 1 p.m. Wednesday for five days with harness horses, exhibitions, and a pioneer cheese factory display by John Bussman. Judging runs Thursday to Saturday, with attractions including Captain Stubby and the Bucaneers, tractor pull open to Green County residents, Rotroff's Auto Thrift Show, Charlie Louvin Show performances, and harness racing Saturday and Sunday followed by a Demolition Derby at 4 and 8 p.m.

Donor approval followed police case and legal checks. Rosaline Gunya, donor widow, says she was not informed of donor use.
