Three Illinois men escaped with cuts and bruises when their Cessna 182 flipped over during an emergency landing in an oats field near Merrill Wisconsin. The plane piloted by James Bond, 35, of Rockford ran out of fuel after fog prevented a landing at Merrill.
Washington AP reports over 313 million dollars will be made available in Wisconsin for public service employment under a new federal law. Labor Secretary James Hodgson announced the funding on Friday.

The Indian Claims Commission ordered the United States to pay Chippewa bands of the Mississippi River and Lake Superior more for lands seized in 1837.
