In Lansing Michigan a 16 year old girl Laurie Munningham pretty daughter of a former mayor was found dead after a 12 day search following her abduction during a July 9 gift shop robbery. A wooded area near the capital held the body about 20 feet from a road after two local boys located it. CHICAGO police credit witnesses and informants with the swift arrest of four suspects in the sniper slayings of two officers Sgt James Severin and Patrolman Anthony Rizzato. Johnnie Veal 17 the reported gang leader surrendered to Circuit Judge Louis Garippo ending the manhunt for the remaining youth.
