A Michigan man, Victor H. Feguer of Saint Johns, is charged with kidnapping in the disappearance of Dr. Edward Bartels of Dubuque. Feguer, alias Sam Newman, was at large. FBI says he was released from a Michigan prison last April and may have moved to Milwaukee, where police seek him for a separate theft.

The open heart operation for Robert Shager was termed successful and his parents Mr and Mrs Oscar Shager await further improvement in his condition. Shager, a 1960 Monroe High School graduate, had prior surgery in 1958 to repair a heart defect. Several Monroe residents donated O Positive blood during a bloodmobile visit at Monticello.

Two Girls Injured In One-Car Crash Near New Glarus
Penelope Haberman and Carol Ann Peterson, both 20, were seriously injured in a one car crash at 3 am on Highway 69 north of New Glarus Woods State Park. They were reported in satisfactory condition at St. Clare hospital and expected to be hospitalized at least a week. Haberman sustained a cerebral concussion and facial lacerations while Peterson suffered a fractured collarbone and contusions. The car left the road during relocation work, rolled in a ditch, and the girls were returning from Chicago to Monroe via Madison after taking the wrong tollway routes. Haberman is a beautician. Peterson works at a bank. both were en route home from Chicago with Haberman attending a beautician convention.
