Green County Fair 113th Opens with New Exhibition Hall
The 113th Green County Fair runs July 26 to 30 with a new all steel Exhibition Hall at the heart of the grounds. The old Floral Hall was removed, traffic control moves to a police-traffic HQ, and a Civil Defense building was relocated. The Dairy Queen throne sits near samples of county cheese while construction features include underground wiring, walnut paneling, skylights, and expanded concession space as preparations for a bustling fair season advance.

Monroe High Girls on listening teams at FHA convention
Arcademew Schuetz and Georgia Wegmueller from Monroe were part of listening teams at the Future Homemakers of America national meeting in Los Angeles. About 1,200 teens attended as Monroe High School delegates. Keynote speaker was Wesley P. Smith, California Vocational Education director, with Esther Peterson, Labor Assistant Secretary, at the banquet. The girls interviewed delegates, summarized info, and brought back ideas for discussion and swap shop groups.
