Accidents Mar Holiday in Area Involve Injured Children
Tragedy marred the Fourth of July weekend in Monroe County with a series of accidents. An Albany boy Kelvin Blaser, 4, is in critical condition after a noon collision with a car driven by Larry Jones of Albany. A tractor accident on the Bruen farm near Darlington claimed the life of 16-year-old Thomas Fisch from Dubuque while another 16-year-old, Kenneth Bilderback of Potosi, survived. A Freeport teen Duane Schlamp, 17, drowned at Pecatonica River during a swimming party. 8-year-old James Nafzger of Juda suffered a severe knee injury entangled in a rotary mower. An 8-year-old Freeport girl Anna Mae Fritsch was treated for dog bite injuries in Monroe. Additional updates show Ronald Jones, 13, of Beloit, improving at St. Clare hospital after Saturday's injury.

Winslow child killed by milk truck on farm near Winslow
Verena Mary Broger two year old daughter of Mr and Mrs John Broger of Winslow was killed when a milk truck owned by Sam Rawleigh ran over her on her farm home a mile west of Winslow on the state line. The driver said he did not see the child. She was born June 22 1957 in St Clare hospital. Surviving are parents two brothers John and Franz a sister Bernadette paternal grandparents Mr and Mrs John Broger in Switzerland maternal grandparents Mr and Mrs Joseph Broger. Closed casket services set for 9 am Wednesday at Cardascio funeral home in Winslow and 9:30 am at St Josephs Catholic Church Lena with Rev William Kriegsman officiating burial in church cemetery. Friends may call after 12 noon tomorrow.

Firemen To Complete Razing Of Sullivan Home
Charles W. Kimbrel of the County Welfare Department says permission is granted to raze the old Sullivan home near Greenwood Cemetery. Fire Chief Josef Benkert plans for firefighters to burn the building to the ground tomorrow night under Frederick Lanz. The blaze, blamed on children, damaged the home interior last Wednesday. Margaret Flynn Sullivan, 75, owner, died February 17 after exposure and malnutrition found in the unheated structure.
