Five Donors Sought for Youth Open Heart Surgery
Rev. Gerritt Mouw of the county Red Cross reports five more donors needed for Robert Shager’s open heart operation. A total of 35 donors are required for sample donations at St. Clare hospital from 4 to 6 p.m. next Tuesday and Wednesday July 5 and 6. Qualified O Positive donors will be asked to give again when the bloodmobile visits Monticello on July 18 at Zwingli United Church of Christ, one day before the surgery. Shager, a Monroe High School graduate, faces his second operation. the first was in 1958 to correct one of two defects.

Rockford youth dies after knife contest sparked by girl
In Rockford Illinois a fist fight over a girl ended with a sharp object incident Friday night. Odell Maclin 21 of Nokomo Heights was struck by a knife while James Box 15 also of Nokomo Heights was taken for questioning. Both are Black. The clash occurred at a housing project intersection where they lived.
