President Nixon to propose 1971 budget of 200.8 billion
The Washington Post reports President Nixon will send Congress a fiscal 1971 budget totaling 200.8 billion with a 1.3 billion surplus. Defense would be cut by 5.8 billion and space agriculture and veterans spending trimmed. Nixon to address Congress Monday and relax some monetary restraints. He will press priorities and note Social Security increases already in place. Nixon to meet the press at 6 30 p.m. EST.
