Jet Plane Crash Kills Ace Gentile

World War II ace and veteran Don S Gentile, 30, died when his jet trainer crashed during a routine flight near Andrews Field Maryland. Passenger Sgt Gregory D Kirsch, 20, also killed. The crash occurred in a woods lot near Forestville after takeoff from Andrews Air Force Base. Gentile was born in Piqua Ohio and had 26 enemy planes in Europe with 350 combat hours for the United States. He studied at the University of Maryland under the Air University program.

Mrs Martha Stalcup 87 lifelong area resident died at 9 10 a m at the Tertin home following a fall and hip fracture earlier in 1948. She was born April 25 1863 in Jordan township daughter of Adam and Dora Mahle and married Albert Stalcup Feb 13 1883 in Monroe. Mrs. Coplien 65 Dies at Orfordville

Winnifred Beatrice Laymon Coplien aged 65 died at noon in her Orfordville home after a long illness. She was born January 26, 1886 in Shipcton, married Frank S. Coplien in Rockford on April 29, 1908, and lived in Juda before moving to Spring Valley. Survived by husband two sons Earl Juda and Roger Orfordville one daughter Mrs Philip Rowley Evansville and 11 grandchildren with an infant son deceased.
