Ralph A. Lindsay a Wisconsin Power and Light Co. retiree and World War I veteran, was chosen Green County Red Cross drive chairman for the March effort. He will select volunteers and chairmen across townships villages and cities except Monroe, which hosts no separate drive as part of United Fund. Lindsay, Monroe native, began with Monroe Electric Co. in 1921, later joining Wisconsin Utilities and then Wisconsin Power and Light Co. He served as operating superintendent in 1941 and construction inspector in Madison in 1959, honored for 40 years of service in 1961, and served with Co. H on the Mexican Border in 1916 and in France 1917–1919. He revisited France in 1962 and has shared war memories at many gatherings.

He suffered a broken arm and leg a broken nose multiple cuts and bruises and three teeth were knocked out. Deputies reported heavy rain with hail thunder and fog at the time of the 12 23 am crash. Crooke a Pabst Brewing salesman from Milwaukee is the son of the late Frank P. Croake founder of the Croake Brewery in Janesville and founder of the Croake Settlement north east of Albany.
