Neelian O Nelson of Argyle was elected to the Pure Milk Association board representing district 20 for two years. He heads Lafayette County Farm Bureau and operates 600 acres in Argyle after 14 years in the U.S. Air Force.

Radar catches three in Greenville speed zone

In Greenville Mississippi a new radar device in a speed zone quickly fined three violators. Mayor Pat Dunne paid 17.50 dollars and warned that the only way to avoid fines is not to speed. A policewoman and a disc jockey were also cited, with the latter broadcasting the zone to other drivers.

Swiss Cheese Prices Steady in Wisconsin Market

Wisconsin cheddar prices showed a slight rise while Swiss and other varieties held firm. The Agricultural Marketing Service reported fair to good demand, adequate to ample supplies, and mixed production shifts with U.S. output down one percent and Wisconsin up three percent for the week ending Jan 13.

Midwest Teachers Call for Peace Efforts

An open letter signed by 914 Midwestern teachers urges President Johnson to push for greater peace negotiations in Vietnam. The Chicago Daily News published the appeal asking the government to explicitly indicate willingness to enter talks under the 1954 Geneva agreements.

Firemen Respond to J J Disch Home Blaze

Albany special report firemen were called to the J J Disch home near the Village Hall today smoke filled the house and water damage occurred. Investigators believe the fire began in an upstairs closet corner and a window was broken to lay the hose.

Olsen Named Club President at Monroe Country Club

Howard P. Olsen was elected president at the annual stockholders meeting of Monroe Country Club. H. F. Fenton became vice president, Robert Abelman secretary, Robert Buehler treasurer, and Kenneth L. Smith and Fenton were re elected to the board. Other directors include Robert Marty, Forrest Kubly, E. C. Hamilton, Dr. Edward Zupan e and Olsen. The Sunday stay and breakfast will continue in summer and 35 trees were replaced at the club during the past year.

Naef Announces Run for Fifth District County Supervisor

Delmar F. Naef of 800 14th Avenue New Glarus today announced his candidacy for county supervisor in the Fifth District. The district lies south of Seventh Avenue in the village and a March primary will pick two nominees for the April ballot. Naef, 30, a Verona native, has farmed in Verona township and Walworth County and served on local agricultural groups. He and his wife Kathryn have three children.

Public Hearing on Pecatonica River Pollution Attracts 150

More than 150 people including representatives of numerous cheese factories attended a Lafayette County Courthouse hearing on Pecatonica River pollution and tributaries in four southern Wisconsin counties. Health officials cited population growth and cheese factories as major factors.

Albany Girl to Join in Concert with Bobby Christian

Patricia Wyss of Albany is part of Whitewater State University's Percussion Ensemble which will perform with percussionist Bobby Christian as guest soloist in a Feb 3 concert at 8 p.m. in the university auditorium. Retailers Plan For Dollar Days In Monroe

The Monroe Chamber of Commerce retail committee announced three promotions for February and March. Dollar Days will be held Friday and Saturday February 4 and 5, followed by a Washington's Birthday promotion on February 18 and 19. Coupon Days are planned for March 11 and 12.
