Monroe police investigate two linked burglaries last night at the A and P Store on 13th Ave and the Marty Ripp Chevrolet garage on Highway 69. Entry occurred between 11:15 and 11:30 pm with a broken window at the showroom, and a toolbox and tools stolen at the garage. The only cash taken was from a vending machine. meats and groceries were seized from the A and P. Police name two suspects and note a possible link between the incidents.

Conservation Pioneer Wenger Wins Wildlife Habitat Award
Ambrose Wenger of Postville, a 317 acre dairy farmer with his sons Jerry and Kenneth, is named the third annual wildlife habitat award winner by the Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisors for his efforts to enhance wildlife on the farm. The Wenger operation includes ponds, hedgerows, woodlands, grasses, and shrubs with extensive habitat features and 150 Holsteins milking 54 pounds. The award will be presented at a February area SWCD meeting, with Wenger already known for pioneering farm ponds and watershed projects.
