Sebastian Laeser Jr. announced he will seek Monroe mayor in the spring elections. With three declared candidates and a Jan 28 filing deadline, a March 10 primary could reduce the field to two for the April 7 vote. Other contenders include Victor N. Schiller and Walter R. Ekum. Evans is not seeking re election. Laeser, longtime council member and Swiss American leader, has held multiple posts including chairman of the finance and public works boards and Water Board member.
