John Brunner Dies on Southwest Trip at 48
John Brunner, 48, owner operator of the Junction House near Monroe, died at Litchfield Illinois after a heart event while en route to Oklahoma City for medical consultations. He is survived by his widow Marie Schenkel, two sons, a brother and four sisters in Switzerland. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery after funeral Saturday at the Neushwander funeral home.

First Congressional Medal of Korea War Goes to Lost Officer
President Truman will award the Congressional Medal of Honor next Tuesday to Mrs. Lavon Henry of Salt Lake City, widow of First Lt. Frederick F. Pilot’s skill saves 49 as Midway bound airliner crashes
Marvin Staddon, pilot of Monarch Air Service Flight 58, steered a C-46 to a forced landing after takeoff from Midway. The craft drifted and bounced in a field, then struck a hay stack and burned as 46 passengers plus three crew escaped or were aided by rescuers.
