Wisconsin Consolidates Income Tax Form 1 For 1959

The Wisconsin Form 1 consolidates the old short and separate returns for married women. It provides husband and wife columns for income and deductions. Taxpayers may itemize or take the standard deduction, with a $450 Wisconsin standard deduction and a 9 percent optional tax table. Federal deductible items differ from Wisconsin ones and require a separate computation.

Mrs. Louise Tornow 90 Succumbs in South Wayne

Louise Tornow 90 died yesterday at St. Clare hospital from old age complications. Born Louise Guttmer in Monroe on August 16 1869 she married Ferdinand Torn in 1896. She lived on a Wayne area farm with survivors including son Leo and several siblings. Funeral services set for Tuesday at 2 pm in Hanson funeral home with burial in Blaisdell cemetery.

Chilean Crowd Greets Eisenhower in Santiago

President Eisenhower was greeted by 600000 to 700000 Chileans in Santiago during his South American tour. A minor incident occurred when Communist union workers shouted anti US slogans and pelted a Castro image as the motorcade passed. No serious injuries reported.

Monroe Theft Suspect Caught

A Chicago man, Anthony J. Harris, 39, was captured after a high speed pursuit seven and a half miles west of Freeport for stealing $80 to $90 from a Monroe service station. Harris fled through Freeport, was fired upon, and finally surrendered after deputies forced him into a patrol car. He waived extradition to Monroe.

Eight in Family Dead of Monoxide

Thomson Illinois finds eight dead in a secluded Mississippi River area home after an oil burner exhausts and empty tanks. Leroy C. Hensel 59, wife Dora 53, and six children aged 7 to 17 die of apparent asphyxiation. Eddie Shuler, Hensel’s employer, discovered the bodies a week later while visiting the snowbound family.

Robber flees Nichols bank hold up after pistol drawn

A bandit attempted to rob Nichols State Bank in Outagamie County around 10:15 am but fled when assistant cashier Darrel Hahn drew a Luger and warned of shooting. The white man, 30s to 40s, in an Army overcoat used a shotgun on witnesses before escaping in a 1951 sedan west on Highway 56. Police set road blocks. no one was hit.
