Motivation Days Set for 1000 Students in Green County

About 1,000 students from Green County grade schools will participate in March 1926 Motivation Days for the four year forestry and conservation course. Twelve centers host sessions from March 19 to 26 with previews, materials, expert talks, and field observations. Participating schools include Juda, Monroe, St Victor’s, Twin Grove, and others with county and state education and conservation officials involved.

An 81 year old Calumet County man Otto Kleist died at St Marys hospital Wednesday from burns suffered while burning grass. Authorities said he tripped and caught fire.

Texan Given Death Penalty in Cuba Well Slaying

Gerald Eaton 26 of Buckholts Texas was convicted and sentenced to death for the murder of Leonard Culpepper in Cuba Alabama. A white jury deliberated about an hour before the verdict. The trial included the slain man’s widow as a surprise witness who testified from a wheelchair after being in near freezing water for 12 hours. Eaton’s execution date was set for May 29, with automatic appeal to the Alabama Supreme Court.
