Youths Confess Series of Rural Crimes In Wisconsin County
A third youth was arrested as investigations into a string of rural crimes continued. Raymond Malcock Jr. 20 of Spring Grove released to his father. Eugene Stampfli 19 and Donald Stewart 22, both of Spring Grove, confessed to pig thefts and related vandalism. A 16-year-old juvenile was to be picked up later for school and roadside vandalism. Stampfli and Stewart faced reformatory sentences later revoked for further check forgery.

Roosevelt Park pool upgrade plans seek bids next month
City engineer Walter Ekum said work may begin next month on a new 20-40 shallow wading pool and a 20-30 building for filtration equipment at Roosevelt Park. The existing pool will be filled and covered, and the filter house will be built east of the pool outside the fence with a bath house style. State Health Board approval is pending and advertising for bids is hoped to start around March 15.

Infant Gasoline Blast Kills Six In Highland Heights
A 19 month old boy toppled a gasoline can in a basement home at Highland Heights near Pontiac Michigan, triggering an explosion that killed six people. Victims include Samuel Fowler 29 and his three year old daughter Jeannie, Robert Zeller 28 and his wife Anita 22 and their two children Gloria Jean seven months and Robert Jr 19 months. The two men were cleaning auto parts with gasoline when the blast ended all oxygen in the room.
