South Vietnamese commanders say allied forces disrupted a major North Vietnamese push into the Mekong Delta with 207 enemy dead reported since last Friday. In the latest clash near Moc Hoa no government casualties occurred as artillery air and helicopter fire kept the North Vietnamese 88th Regiment battalions from retreating toward Cambodia. Seventeen South Vietnamese were killed and 24 wounded in earlier fighting as the two battalions moved through the Plain of Reeds.
Secretary of State William P. Rogers flew from Tunisia to Ethiopia to meet Emperor Haile Selassie and Yugoslav President Tito. He plans a major policy speech to the Organization of African Unity and will discuss the Arab-Israeli conflict, presenting the Nixon administration's Middle East approach to Tito, who leans toward the Arab cause.

The Green County Board of Supervisors approved a new zoning ordinance requiring a $25 deposit for all board of adjustments hearings. Deposits are escrowed and refundable if denied or building permits are issued with inspection certificates. forfeited if not used within one year. The board also authorized sheriff vehicle purchases for $6,070.29, adopted annual reports, and set a Feb 21 hospital farm tractor sale. The session raised various appropriations and scheduled a public hearing on sanitation and subdivision codes for March 10.
The Wisconsin State Highway Commission will uphold its original list of highway priorities after a $200 million road bond bill was signed. Governor Knowles praised the program, which funds 400 miles of roads including 300 miles of expressways, with about $40 million in the current fiscal period. The bill accelerates projects in 20 plus counties, detailing improvements from Highway 13 in multiple counties to freeway builds on Highways 15 11 and 41a, plus beltline and Stevens Point freeway work.

A three year old deer named Bambi once kept as a pet by the Kethcart family near Brodhead has been moved to a private deer farm in Johnstown Center after state officials ruled private property deer harbors unlawful. The Ketheart family were fined fifty dollars for keeping the animal and received two live doves from the new owner as part of the transfer.
The St. Clare Hospital Development Fund seeks additional pledges as construction on an $8 million addition proceeds toward a late 1971 completion. Robert M. Bussen notes that the campaign aims to double the hospital’s capacity with more beds and expanded labs and surgical facilities. The drive, launched three years ago, has raised $589,734 with final pledges due by January 1, and funds will be officially handed to the hospital by June 1.
