Edgerton youths charged in Dan County beating incident
Three Edgerton youths faced charges in Dane County Criminal Court yesterday for the roadside beating of Gary Jelle 18 of New Glarus on Highway 92 south of Mt. Vernon near Virgil’s Tavern. Jelle remains hospitalized with a fractured jaw cheekbone and nose.

Belleville Man Pleads Innocent to Conflict of Interest
Richard Francois, Belleville, pleaded innocent in Madison criminal court to violating state conflict of interest laws by excessive contracting between his Belleville garage business and the Belleville school district. Police Seminar Placed At Swiss Wheel Hosts Attend
The Monroe routine department and Leslie Schwitz of the Warren Police Department hosted a Police Seminar at the Swiss Wheel last night. About 50 people attended despite bad weather. Barbara Hefty born Hauser in Elm Switzerland on Oct 26 1882 came to America at four. She married Henry Hefty in Monroe in 1903 and farmed in Clarno Township before moving to Monroe in 1923. Surviving are son Henry and Fredric plus three sisters and a brother. Services Thursday at Shriner Neushwander Funeral Home with Rev Calvin P Fischer officiating. Burial Greenwood Cemetery.

Olson earns Eagle Award at Scout Court of Honor
